Marijuana Days to replace Strawberry Days this month

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Co. — The 119th Strawberry Days festival will reflect the essence of Colorado this year with a new theme and activities for all.
This year’s theme will be “Marijuana Days” and promises fun for the whole family.
The festival will begin at noon on Friday, June 17 with live music on stage by local head-banging bands and hip-hop music.
On Saturday, there will be the traditional parade down Grand Avenue, but this year will feature a bunch of stoned people trying to remember where they are supposed to go.
“Marijuana is a huge industry in Colorado and Glenwood Springs is not going to miss the boat,” said a member of the chamber of commerce. “I think people are more interested in smoking pot than eating strawberries.”
However, Strawberry Days food vendors are excited about the change.
“People will get stoned and get the munchies and we will profit!” one vendor said.
The city is planning to double the amount of free strawberries and ice cream following the parade, as it is anticipated the crowd will definitely have the munchies. The food court is also expected to do extremely well this year.
“We have vendors that will also be selling pillows for people to crash in the park, along with bongs and roach clips,” the chamber member said. “Marijuana vendors will also be on hand. This will be our most exciting, and mellow, festival ever.”
