Local man tries to avoid jail by offering cops doughnuts

SILT, Colo. — Everyone knows cops like doughnuts, but a Silt man thought he could use the tasty treats to prevent his happy butt from getting arrested.
The 25-year-old man who worked at a doughnut shop in town, promised the officers some jelly-filled doughnuts if they would just “let him go home.” While negotiating, he also offered to give them a joint, so they could enjoy the doughnuts even more.
When they declined, he resorted to other measures, including offering them money and/or to sleep with his wife.
“I believe he was serious,” the police chief reported. “But we all knew his wife and nobody was interested…”
The man was arrested after being caught peeking into parked cars, although it was unclear whether he was looking for something to steal or hoping to catch a couple going at it in the back seat.
He was charged with trying to bribe a public employee, a misdemeanor that carries a penalty of two to 12 years in prison and a fine of $100 to $5,000.
The officers finally apprehended the suspect after catching him and kneeing him in the groin and he finally subdued in pain, was arrested and hauled off to jail.
