Georgia professor allows students to choose grades

ATHENS, Ga. — It’s no longer a requirement to study your butt off and work hard to maintain your grades at the University of Georgia this fall, thanks to one university professor.
The professor has decided it is more beneficial to reduce the stress on his students, which he reportedly says can cause emotional anxiety that can have “profound consequences for all involved.”
So instead, Professor Lionel Lenient is allowing his students to choose their own grades if they don’t agree with the one they received and the grade with be changed with no questions asked.
This, of course, could be dangerous if a student is, say, studying to be a doctor or a neurosurgeon, as they would not be required to master the skills that are necessary.
Students are also allowed to take “open book” tests and exams in which they are free to look up the answers in the back of the book.
“My incentive for starting these policies is that I’m sick and tired of grading papers and having to evaluate students to give them a grade in class,” Lenient admitted. “These people are paying good money to attend the U of G. They might as well get what they want.”
He did, however admit it may hinder the student’s ability to obtain mastery of certain skills, but said ultimately, it’s their own responsibility.
“Frankly, it’s not my problem,” Lenient said.
