NEW CASTLE, Colo. — The theme for this year’s 42nd annual Burning Mountain Festival is “Creating the Future, Honoring the Past” and, as usual, there will be no shortage of things to do.

New Castle celebrates 42nd Burning Mountain Festival

NEW CASTLE, Colo. — The theme for this year’s 42nd annual Burning Mountain Festival is “Creating the Future, Honoring the Past” and, as usual, there will be no shortage of things to do.
The festivities will beginning on Friday, Sept. 11 with food and craft vendors opening at 5 p.m. and music by John Noel and the Ralph Dinosaur band.
On Saturday, the Lions Club will do their annual pancake breakfast at the New Castle Community Center at 8 a.m., followed by the parade down Main Street at 10 a.m. The grand marshals of this year’s  parade are Joe and Lorraine McNeal, long time New Castle residents and operators of the New Castle Historical Museum.
From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., there will be all kinds of activities in Burning Mountain Park on Main Street, including kids games, food and craft vendors, a pie eating contest at 1 p.m. , a wood splitting contest at 2 p.m., and music at 5 p.m. by Smuggler Mountain Boys and at 7 p.m. by Already Gone.
