SILT, CO — It’s been a restaurant and a young ladies’ charm school, but the building at 820 Main Street has finally found it’s true calling.

Numbers ‘6’ and ‘9’ are 86’d from new Silt Bingo hall

SILT, CO —  It’s been a restaurant and a young ladies’ charm school, but the building at 820 Main Street has finally found it’s true calling.
It’s going to be a Bingo hall.
“One of our goals is to attract new businesses to town and what better business than Bingo?” said Mayor Bubba Jo Barker. “Everybody loves Bingo. I think people will come from all over the valley to play Bingo here. We’ll be known as the Bingo capital of the Western Slope!”
Others were not quite as optimistic.
“That building is cursed,” one resident said. “Every business that goes in there fail. I think it’s haunted.”
A couple of years ago the building had been taken over by Lady Beatrice Croakfield Vandenberg, who ran it as a charm school for young ladies. However, she closed it immediately after a group of young Silt women, who obviously did not give a hoot about proper etiquette, picketed the place with signs that said “Choke Croak!”

BingoOldLadies_smThe new Bingo hall will be run by the local chapter of The Chaste Women Society.
“We’re excited to bring some wholesome, family fun to Silt,” said Beatrice Bumfort, president of the Silt chapter of the CWS. “And our Bingo hall will be different. We will not be playing with the numbers ‘6’ or ‘9.’”
Instead of cash, Bingo winners will all receive handmade quilts.
